I am curious, do you quilt yr own or send it out? Why

If it's a real nice quilt I sent it out to be hand quilted by a friend of mine. I'll go for a day and help on it but I don't have the time or the space to hand quilt. I do some by Stitch in the Ditch method and some I tie. I do not do FM quilting because I just can not for the life of me "get it."

I am able to do either free motion or the computer guided designs for my customers, or a combination of the two.

Small wall hangings I do myself. Full sized quilts I send out. I used to hand quilt my quilts, but since I started selling them, I don't have a fast enough turn around. I can machine quilt the larger ones on my regular machine either. My DH wants to buy me a longarm but I haven't decided if I can handle one or not.

When I first started quilting I sent them out because there was no way I wanted to try to push all that fabric through my home sewing machine. But! When I got them back they may have been beautifully quilted, but they weren't my creation any more.
Our lqs got a long arm, teaches you how to use it, and then lets you rent it. My long arm quilting is not near as pretty as what I got when I paid for it, and never will be cause I don't have that kind of talent. However, when I am finished it is still my own creation, and I love it.
