I love what you said. I have more gadgets than I use also, but I seem to be evolving into a threadaholic. I love all of the thread sets from Connecting Threads, and I'm trying to decide which one I'm going to buy next. They're all so lovely.

I can relate, but I have been getting better on gadgets, especially with more money limitations. I just a really cool iron system at the LQS I took a class at, but then I looked it up online and the cheapest one is $1600 (includes the iron, the special board, and the steamer unit).
My worse thing seems to be buying duplicates of rulers.

I had too much junk in my quilting room especially since I have been doing more purses and crafting projects that take different interfacings, etc. The UFO's are piling up.
What was my solution? Get rid of stuff...no. Finish projects before I start another....no. I bought a new storage cabinet. Makes sense and sounds like the perfect solution to me.
It came the other day and hubby put it together. It is perfect and I have plenty of room. But I decided to gut and clean my room since it is holiday weekend and I have today off. It has not been "deep" cleaned in probably a year. Can you say dust bunny heaven??
So I started in one end and pulled everything out so I could clean behind and around it. The fabric that was pre-sorted was fine. We aren't even going to talk about that!
Big mistake. This is a 14 by 12 room with a walk in closet. Now I know why I need another storage cabinet. Three sewing machines-two I dont use, a felting machine, a serger-that hasnt been used in a decade.
Five different types of irons. I must need a different iron for every technique. Five different ironing board surfaces. Big Boards, little boards, regular boards, miniature boards, traveling boards. When I was in college I used a towel on the kitchen table.
I can tell I am aging, the eyes must be going. There are eight lights in that room...half Ott, some attach to a machine, some have magnifiers... I must have enough wattage if I turn them all on to be spotted from outer space.
I refuse to count the rulers and templates. I think I have more than the local quilt store though!
More sewing knick knacks than any one human being should ever have to dust which is probably why it only gets deep cleaned once a year or so.

Hello, my name is Alma and I, too, am a gadget-aholic! Maybe you could start a support group here! Sounds like a good idea. My DH asked why I needed another something or other. I asked him why he had so many tools, i.e. hammers. He hasn't asked since!

I am fairly new to quilting, only a couple of years, and I already have a room full of gagets, and sewing machines, including a new Viking Topaz embroidery machine. Being a widow, I don't have any one to complain about it and my son just enables my addiction by saying "Mom, that's your tools, you can't work without good tools." That's good enough for me. Now just hope my DD doesn't put them in yard sale for .50 ea when I'm gone,LOL.

I must write a will for what the children should do w my stuff when I am gone. Surely, there is a good way to avoid a rinky dink yard sale price on a cherished $100. item I yearned for a long time before I bought it.
