i agree about it being almost king. whoever writes the sizes doesn't know today's mattress sizes. i like a square because i like the 60" across and then an almost 20" drop on each side.
20" even is okay too, but i want to see that side rail. the same length gives lots of tuck-in room top and bottom. comes out square. a lot of people don't like it square.

Welcome from your bordering state, Kansas. I too get frustrated with all the patterns that just give requirements for just one size and it's usually too small for a 'normal' adult bed - queen size or larger. I'm too new to this quilting to trust myself to make the right adjustments in fabric and design to change a pattern.

Wouldn't it be nice for every pattern to have all sizes from lap to king all figured out for you---I know, I'm dreaming.

I also would prefer to have my square, but as I do use Pillow Shams I can get by with it just wider. I have been known to add more width to my borders to reduce the difference between the length and the width.

sitzy, sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Glad you are here with us on the QB. You can usually reach someone on here day or night. Do try to stay in touch with your local Guild, call and ask someone if you can give them a ride to Guild. Staying involved and talking to each other will help all of you ease the loss of your friend.
