    grrrrrrr
this is what comes of designing as you go.... many, many hours spent unpicking....

but it WILL look good soon....getting closer to a finish...

    off to unpick...

I was in the middle of the frog stitch when I discovered I had frogged the wrong row. At least all I have to do is restitch that row. I like a comfortable chair to frog stitch, as well.

Would it be quicker and easier to trim the 1 1/4" to 1" and decide that it was meant to be that way?!

Yesterday I finished a UFO that a deceased friend had started many years ago. I had it all quilted and was trimming it, ready for the binding. During the trimming I discovered why she had put it aside--one of the big triangles of the twisted star was blue while all the rest were purple!!! Where were my eyes the day before??

File this one under "What Was I Thinking?" (Maybe that's why it was in her UFO's??!!

Well, I can feel your frustration because I know it all too well myself. I am a new quilter and because of poor guessing at 1/4, I am now paranoid and use my tape on edges then use marker until I have that uncanny knowledge by heart on what is a 1/4 seam.

Remember to focus on the finished product and the love behind it.

I recently saw a video by Billie Lauder in which she mentioned that the best seam ripper was an eyebrow razor. I didn't even know there was such a thing.

I had a heck of a time finding one. Finally located it at WalMart in with the other razors. It's about the size of an eyebrow pencil. The one I got is pink and has the tiniest blade (very, very sharp) with the sharp edge exposed just a miniscule amount.

It works beautifully! Billie Lauder was right - I flew through my work and as for the "picking," I use the "stiff" side of a piece of velcro; absolutely pulls the little pieces out and hangs onto them.

How do I know all this? (Sigh.)

I also saw the video by Bille Lauder and couldn't find the razor, thanks, I'll head to WAlMart today. Also thanks for the velcro trick.

My recent brain fart involved cutting, not ripping. I was doing a scrappy quilt that involved 84 bricks and 84 four-patches, but my math was a bit off and the 4-patches ended up too big! Had to cut 3/4" off of all 4 sides of 84 squares. Good thing there was a Law & Order marathon on.

I'm so sorry that you have to rip out, but I'm glad to know that others make some of the same mistakes that I do. ( and I do make mistakes, quite frequently, I might add)
