A friend of mine, who has American Indian in her heritage, told me that her grandma, who was full blooded indian and made that quilts, told her that Indians ALWAYS sew a mistake in their quilts, intentionally, because it keeps the bad spirits away. That has been my story, and I'm stickin to it, ever since. Maybe you could use it too.

The Amish always makes sure that there is a planned mistake in their quilts. Only God is perfect. Tell them that you were following the Amish way of piecing.

I was told today at the LQS that the Amish always make at least one mistake on their quilt as nothing is perfect unless God makes it. It is a religious thing. So I think what you did was a gift TO God to show that only he is perfect.

    You did a good thing.

You could always call it your Amish mistake too. :) Every quilt is suppose to have one! ;)

I second that if she didn't say anything then nobody would notice especially if it is a bed quilt.

I have always been puzzled by the expression "an intentional 'mistake' "
