Question I bought a couple "Layer cakes" and don't know what pattern to use

I want to get a good efficient cut and a great outcome from this stunning fabric -

One has 2 packs the other is 3 packs.....

I appreciate all suggestions! Thanks, Nancy

Check out www.modabakeshop.com - they have all kinds of free patterns using pre-cuts - you can look up patterns by the type of pre-cut - for instance - you can look up patterns that use layer cakes. Also - check the Missouri Star Quilt company - they have you-tube videos of quilts using pre-cuts - have fun. I love pre-cuts and have many different layer cakes, charm packs, fat quarter bundles, etc. I always check these sites for ideas.

Your library can be a good resource. I just checked out a book called Schnibbles Times Two by Carrie Nelson, and all the patterns are for quilts from 10" and 5" squares. (Each pattern is done in both sizes.) Here is a link to the book on Amazon, where there are quite a few photos of quilts in the book:

Missouri Star Quilt Co. has a tutorial on a double sliced layer cake and a table runner made with layer cake. I know there are other tuts there as well. Might be worth checking out.

I just made my first quilt with a layer cake, and I loved the results. I did the two slice layer cake from Missouri Star. Let me see if I can find a picture. I liked this quilt so much that I am making a second one ....starting in about ten minutes. Perhaps a picture can tell you quickly if this is one you might be interested in.

Dina..I like this one very much...I did this in the Sweet Prairie line..Looked fine, and country... It depends what layer cake one chooses. I'm contemplating a cake and jelly roll quilt, but cannot decide . I like so many combos...

I finally used up a couple Holly Taylor layer cakes that I had bought over two years ago. I made a snowball quilt with sashing and cornerstones and I really like it. It was super fast to put together, too. I have it sitting, basted and waiting for me to do the quilting.
