Default I can't be the only one...

I finished a top for our second oldest son and had it lying on the dining table and was cutting batting and backing to size. Then I start to glue baste it. I am all done basting before I realize that I have basted the right side of the quilt to the right side of the backing with no batting. Thankfully I did not heat set it as of the moment I realized my mistake. So I took it up and re basted with the batting and the glue in the right spots. Yikes! Was I not paying attention! I hope I'm not the only one to do this booboo. Gina

It's good that you caught it in time! We all have our boo boo's. The older I get, the more of them I make!

I have done the same thing.. only I caught myself before the entire top was glued. I just had to laugh at myself and go on.

Don't feel bad, I made a receiving blanket and sewed the whole thing shut before I could turn it inside out. MSQC video. When I realized what I had done, I also realized I had the wrong materials together. I just stopped turned everything off and shut the door, had a beer and started over the next day. Too much on my mind.

I have almost done that same thing. Now I keep several projects in various stages going. I have cut days, sew days, quilt days, glue days and binding days. After I make a few mistakes I switch to something else. Scatterbrained but it works for me.

When I am sewing and things seem to be going smoothly for a long period of time, I begin to get suspicious if I have done something wrong, and I am usually right!

HI mike'sgirl ,I am new to glue basting, never realised you heat set it, I have just repositioned the layers and gone on to quilt--- there is always something new to learn.Letty x
