    If you are making your friend a bed jacket...for the hospital...for end of life care *sigh*, I highly recommend you split the sleeves for quick access and iv's. I would split it on the top of the sleeve, from the shoulder to the wrist, with an overlap section secured by bits of velcro that wont touch the skin, she'll be sensitive. overlap section so there is no gaps for her to get chilly.

    I bought a nice one for my MIL at Kohl's last year for Christmas. You might check there if you can.


    Sorry, I didn't realize you were looking for patterns.
    AAnother option for you might be a shawl. I made one out of two layers of fleece, 18 inches wide and as long as you want. You can add pockets if you like. No pattern needed really.
