You are making my left index finger throb just thinking about it. 1.5 years ago I nearly cut my index finger off at the knuckle near the nail with my rotary cutter. Suprisingly, it only took 4 stitches. I feel your pain. :x

I have never done this myself, but one teacher once said that until you sewed your finger at least once, you couldn't call yourself a professional sewer. If that is what it takes, I don't ever plant to be a professional. LOL
I did once cut my thumb just back of the nail right down to the bone, trimming a horse's hoof. I thought it would never stop bleeding. And no, I do not call myself a professional farrier.

I have not yet sewn mine, but did "shave" the end of mine with the rotary cutter.
