I wonder if this is instructions based on professional knowledge or if someone said this trying to be helpful. I don’t see the strong resemblance that would make the association. I’m not being insensitive- there was abuse in my family. I just worry this will become “fact”.

In my opinion this is redickulous. Kids know or should what pandas look like.

Where did the original restriction against panda bears come from? What organization? Or did the leader of the guild come up with that? It never would occur to me, and I'm not saying it's unfounded, but seems like we all would've heard about something like that since so many here make quilts and donate to police officers, social workers, etc. Seems like it should be more common info if it's the case.

I think kids are smarter then that. Smarter then the person that came up with that notion.

I agree - I have not been able to find anything about it after researching the issue on the internet. I taught kindergarten and pre-K for over 30 years and frequently had children in my classes that came from abusive situations. I had pictures of pandas and other animals with "black eyes" in lots of different units and teaching materials and never had a negative reaction from the children.

I hope you investigate this further with whomever said this and find what this is actually based on. And please let us know.
