Congratulations on your milestone. I've passed many but buying an entire roll of batting isn't one of them. Something to look forward to.

that's what I use. A wall and some batting. I used a pre-cut so you can't see my horrible scissor skills ;-) There is something satisfying about having a whole roll of batting waiting for you.

for cutting rolled batting straight - fold the batting back on itself and cut on the fold line - still not a perfectly straight line, but pretty close.

I also used batting because I had it. Now I wish it were felt so that I could vacuum it to get off all those threads and such.

A friend came over and using ribbon made grids on my design board. There are horizontal, vertical, and both diagonal directions to help me line up my blocks. I love the grid work.

I'd love to be able to buy a whole roll of batting! My design wall is a flannel backed table cloth hanging on the wall with those tiny, clear 3M Command hooks! I can take it down when we have company for dinner but leave the hooks up because you can barely see them.
