I was feeling a little blue

I lost my health insurance when I was in the middle of a health crisis and it was too late for that year for my DH's job open door sign up. I was pi$$ed to say the least. I had two options. I could quilt or commit a violent act ~ I was that angry. So I decided to quilt. I made several beautiful table runners where my points and seams all matched (Quite a feat for me!) and gave them as gifts to several extremely supportive friends. All this to say that quilting is my therapy but I also fix up vintage machines for therapy too. Retail therapy is mostly not my thing unless it's a vintage machine.

Fay, I wonder if we have some of the same fabric. I have some novelty cat fabric that I've collected but do intend, some day, to make my mom a cat quilt and maybe my brother who rescues kitties. The quilt suggestion was from my sister.

I usually end up catching up on hand needle work in front of the tv. I have 3 furbabies that "I" need so they bring me out of the mood really fast. If I'm mad about something, I don't dare go near my sewing machine. Sure as Hades, I'll mess up or jam something or something, something. I just try not to let anything bring me down anymore. It is just another one of those days1

To me quilting as always been like therapy, although I'm not sure if it's cheaper than actual therapy, but it works for me. Several years ago my second oldest brother passed away from cancer, however, because of the date for the funeral my sister and I would not have been able to get there in time to attend. We opted to not go, called our SIL to offer our condolences and prayers. Then I went to my sewing room and began quilting an oversized king quilt, which helped me work through my grief. Even if I just sit at my sewing table and try to organize or clean up my sewing area it helps to clear the cobwebs from my brain and when I finish something - it's time to celebrate.

Yes, I sew to soothe my mind.
I lost a my baby sister in 1984 and it was a miserable time.
I was evidently sewing away and before I realized it my daughter
and I had a closet full of matching shirt & short sets.
And the part I did not understand was I could not remember making all of them.
So Sewing is a Therapy for me.

blue time
I have had cancer and had surgery and chemo twice
when I was going thru all that. quilting really helped keep me sane
I have a couple friends that quilt and the board has really helped me
I would have to get on and see what everyone was doing and learned a lot from all your good ideas
I am lurking in the shadows as I am not doing the great work you do but I am having fun and it keeps me busy
keep all those ideas coming
