My ironing board is up and away from my sewing - plus my cutting table is around the corner, so up and down I go. When I am paper piecing though I do have a small ironing mat and cutting mat on opposite sides of my machine - then I have to force myself up and down, lol.

I moved my ironing board away from my sewing area for the same reason. I get so stiff if I don't get up and move around. I have moved my cutting table to my extra bed room across the hall from my sewing room so I get a little walking back to my sewing room and the cutting table.

I keep my ironing board on the other side of my sewing room, so I get up and down a lot, but thats a good thing!!

I use this idea for my large ironing board, it is the bedroom next to my sewing room. When guests come it is the luggage holder!

I have to get up to press also. I do some side to side exercises every so often to work out sore spots on side of back. Only when I am quilting a quilt do I sit for very long. I get some disruptions and only quilt for short times.

I did the same thing, so now i have to get up to iron or trim. Every little bit helps.

Now, living in sunny Florida, cold is generally not my problem. But what if you put an electric heating pad in your room? You could put it under your machine to keep your legs war, or maybe lean against it on your chair, or even sit on it. Come to think of it, all y'all "UpNorth" quilters must have lots of ways to stay warm while you sew. Any ideas?

I haven't counted because I'm afraid of the number, but I've got about 50 pillowcases cut out and ready for a sewing session at the chruch hall this evening. We don't have a lot of sewing people, so we've also invited ironers. So they can do my exercise!
