I have been down and out for the last 9 days because I cut the top of my index finger off while working in the kitchen. Although it is still in a splint I managed to cut some pieces and sew them up into a block and sew a few strips up to be ready to cut. But I have to take my time and get a little creative on how to do things but it sure beats drinking Long Island Teas and watching SpongeBob!
This is a UFO I had from last year that I started on and ran out of fabric and of course the shop that I normally go to burned to the ground and I have been unable to find the color until last month.
But trying to treadle with a bum finger sucks!!

I'm sorry to hear about your finger...and your lqs. I'm sorta in the same boat with you right now. I've just today gotten a cast put on my right hand and cannot hold a rotary cutter or scissors and I wanted to get started on a pinwheel/squares black/white/red quilt for my son. Unfortunately I have no one to help me out with cutting. If I had that I might be able to try some sewing...but in the mean time I am stuck watching whatever comes up on the tv. :( I just hope that 6 weeks goes fast for me :( Good luck with your finger

I actually really like SpongeBob, my wife thinks I am nuts but she loves me anyway.

sorry about your finger...my brother had several chopped off in a flywheel accident (he's a mechanic). He had to have microsurgery to keep a couple in place, although they don't work so well. He lost one completely - all on his left hand, and since he's a righty, that's probably better.
Keep sewing, and don't let it get you down. Post pix of the quilt!!
