This is a nice machine, I want one too, My friend who I have been teaching to sew just got one, I love it. i currently am using my 25 yr old kenmore. This one will probly be my next. I did look online and amazon .com had them for 179.00.

I got mine for Christmas and I love it! I have sewed for many years but not with embroidary features...I am excited. Having your name and numbers on thing is very in these days!Makes some gifts more personalized.

I just want to give a warning. It doesn't give any directions in the manual for oiling. My machine froze up yesterday. I did a good cleaning. Nothing. I decided to oil what I could see and worked the wheel until it loosened up. I let it sit until I got home from work today. Put it back together and it is working like a new machine. I told my DH the other day that it sounded like it needed oiled and was going to take it in. The moral is if it sounds like it needs oil....it does!

What areas did you apply the oil?

I just oiled the parts that move while cleaning the bobbin area. That is all I can tell you. If you are afraid to do it, take it in for a service. But it should be fine for several quilts. I made 7 lap quilts including FM and 8 doll quilts. I love this machine. I am thinking about buying another just for a back up.

It starts making a metal on metal rubbing sound just before it freezes up. This is the Needle Rod holder going up and down, it must get hot and expand to some degree.

Go to the craft section at WalMart and buy a large piece of foam paper. The store where I live has them(Southwest Va).Mine is big enough for my sewing machine and the extension table to sit on. The table won't move around then.I also have a Brother SQ-9000 and it works great! I run a quilt shop and that's the machine I use. The feature that sold me was the foot pedal or no foot pedal part. I have MS and my feet don't work very well most days.

I use some of that rubber type shelf liner under mine. I really helps.

Mine hasn't frozen up yet. I hope it won't But after reading how you fixed yours I'll know what to do. I use mine all day on Tuesdays and Thursdays and on the end of each day I drop a little oil on a brush and oil the bobin casing and needle shaft.Hopefully that will keep me from having problems.
