Wow, I am drooling with envy. Was the 401 the first model with zig-zag and cams for various stitches?

How lovely! This is the machine I learned to sew on a hundred years ago. ;) And it's the machine that fired up my obsession with vintage sewing machines.

I've outfitted mine with a cabinet that's identical to my grandmother's and full of vintage tools and notions. On eBay, I even found a pair of pinking shears exactly like hers and in the same box that she always insisted hers belonged in. :)

You're going to love that machine - it's so capable and reliable and easy to run! Congratulations and happy birthday, too! :)

Woohoo the sister from mine. DH is cleaning it right now but it should be done soon. I can't wait to play with her.

    I inherated a 1958 model 401 from my Mom. I wouldn't take for it.
