Good for you!! I got one yesterday on Ebay. Used the buy it now feature. It think mine is 1951 vintage. It is in pristine condition and has plenty of accessories. I had checked several sites that sell featherweights but ebay had the best deal. She should be here in a week and a half. Don't know what to call her - was thinking about Abigail

How exciting! My "Baby" (that's her in my avatar) also came from an Ebay purchase. I named her Baby because she is so sweet to sew on! Baby loves it when she finds out she has a new cousin.... LOL

Congratulations. Now for a dumb question, can someone tell me the fascination with Featherweights? I've seen them on Ebay and would love to know why everyone wants one.

It is missing some other things that I can easily replace.
I haven't attempted it yet, but I've taken the face plate off and it looks like its just 3 screws and looks easy enough. I will have to remove the presser foot bar to get to one of them though. I just hope taking the old off and putting the new on doesn't mess up any timing, tension or cause any other issues. As soon as I get the part I'll give it a try and let you know. I should really take all parts internal and external off and cleaning it really good, but I'm so afraid of not getting it back together again. So, Im just going to get a few tooth brushes and clean as good as I can into all those little spaces and around those gears.
Ask around about taking that screw out, my husband has some sort of tool that can remove stripped screws, that sounds like it might be your problem.
Good luck with getting your baby healthy again! I think were both going to need it.

They're just so darn cute! And, from what I've read sew a really great stitch. Can't wait to be able to try her out.
