    Great idea - especially if you make it out of a lighter fabric than quilting cottons (cotton voile maybe) so it didn't get too heavy. Then you could line or put an attached "slip" in it to finish off ... Can you tell I do more clothing sewing than quilting these days - have been sewing for toddler grand-daughters.
