I only use topstitch titanium coated Organ needles. I buy them from Superior Threads or Connecting Threads. They stay sharp 5x longer then regular needles.

I have to admit, I've always used W&N batting and have never paid attention to which side I put up or down on the quilt! I've never (knock on wood) had any bearding happen in the dozens of quilts I've quilted. It's one of the reasons I only use W&N!

I also don't pay attention to the assorted Warm Company batts I use and have NEVER had bearding. I have no idea if the bits will come off in the wash. Have you tried shaving them?

I use Topstitch needle size 80/12 with Essential Threads.
I think I got those needles from Hancocks of Paducah and also from Connecting Threads.

I did not know there was a right and wrong side. Thanks.
