I once bought a sack of misc size square blocks and several sizes of triangles at a garage sale. I thought I would make something awesome out of them. As soon as I got home I dumped everything out on the table, took one look, put it back in the bag and later donated it to a charity sale. LOL

I think with so many I would make up a solution of starch in a bucket and keep dunking them and drying in the drier until damp. Then I would iron and organise in colours etc. and wrap in aluminium foil. The foil will stop fraying as will starch.
I would do in batches .

One easier way I have used. Find a focus or primary color and cut squares. Draw the diagonal line from one corner to the other. Then lay one triangle to left and the other to the right side...they will cling a bit. Stitch 1/4 inch from center on each triangle. Cut diagonally between the two stitch lines. Press and trim to size. The square seems to act like a stabilizer and you have two half square triangles with little bias problem. One side of each will be the focus color. It is not necessary to have the squares all the same color if you really want scrappy.
Good Luck
