Default I have two new pot holders and two fewer UFOs!

It's a small step, but in my endless efforts to clean my quilting studio and reduce my UFO count, I found two lovely log cabin blocks I made -- who knows when?

I decided to use them rather than setting them aside as the first blocks of yet another quilt. I grabbed some Insul-brite, some batting and a home decor fabric remnant and whipped up two pot holders. Took very little time.

I have a strange feeling of accomplishment -- strange because it hardly counts as a major victory over the creeping chaos of the room -- but a project completion nonetheless.

A little project can give you a feeling of accomplishment.

Anything that is now not a UFO, no matter how small is an accomplishment, congratulations. I was looking through my UFO box the other day and was shocked at how many things are in there...I better get busy too.

Good for you! It's so tempting to think that using them for a quick project isn't "good enough," then setting them aside. I'm doing my best to learn from your example!

There is great satisfaction in seeing smaller items emerge and they are great gift ideas as well.

I do this, too. Sometimes I have leftover blocks either from miscounts or blocks that I messed up, and I turn them into potholders. I have a lot of potholders.

We always need potholders. Make nice gifts too.

What a great idea. Never thought to use leftover blocks for potholders.

Great idea. we never have enough pot holders. And clean/new ones can be thrown on the table to protect the table from hot bowls at dinnertime.
