Help! I need some inspiration. Anyone go through these times when you do everything else EXCEPT quilting?

I've had a mystery quilt from last year that I haven't touched since last week. I had to motivate myself since I have no quilting friends in my area. My daughter doesn't sew though she appreciates the work. Sooo, I have to move myself towards the sewing machine and just start anywhere! There's always something to do its just finding that start! lol!

One of my teachers gave me a great tip:

Make yourself do the dreaded chore for 15 Minutes. Set an egg timer and work on the "whatever" project until the timer goes off. Then you MUST quit. Do that for a few days and you'll be back on track.

Another option: Do you have a UFO that could benefit from a helping hand and an hour or two?

OR: if all your projects are large, make something you can FINISH and feel good about yourself and your work.

Or give yourself permission to take a little break but keep checking this forum. You'll soon be so jazzed by everyone else's success, you'll be running to your sewing space.

Boston1954 I was in the same situation...but mine was for months. I came to the board and all the kind words and looking at all the beautiful quilts that everyone has posted got me up and going again.
Just know that you are not alone. I think we have all gone through it at one time or another!

I feel your pain. I'm dying to start a new project! I have yummy new fabs for the grand baby on the way..but ... it's spring here in S. Louisiana. The garden won't wait, the floors need mopping, the laundry needs doing, and heck, the weather is sooo nice, let's take the RV to an awesome state park for a week because I have cabin fever reeaally bad! Where did the time go? Did I really not sew for a couple of weeks? LOL
This is why I hate deadlines. On the other hand, babies won't wait.

I too have been in a funk! So I made some squares to donate, and that has helped get me back on track. First time I have donated anything and It is a good feeling, and think I will continue to do so. Now making a square for a cancer quilt. Sort of puts things in perspective for me! :D

I'm in one right now. However, I did finish altering a new jacket I bought a couple months ago. Guess that's progress or some kind.

yep...I know how you feel..I have not sewn for weeks..and you WILL not sew until that bug gets ahold of you. Wait for it...it will come..look at this board...magazines, and be sure to touch your fabric every once in awhile...all these things kinda puts you on the path.... it will be almost 4 weeks for me,,. I tried ..but it wasn't to be. I am hoping for the "Bug Bite" after Easter.
