I will be watching this too. I have some washable satin that I got when a fabric store closed. I must have at least 5 yards and have washed it 5 or 6 times. Still smells.

I had a large bag of ties given to me that reeked of mothballs! Yuk!!!
I searched and searched for ways to get rid of the smell....What really worked? (washing didn't!)
The thing that DID work was hanging them out in the sunshine!!! I had searched and searched and tried lots of things....but believe me hanging out in the sun was the ONLY thing that worked...you should've seen DH & I hanging out over 100 of those little gems on the line! LOL

I'd try the vinegar in the wash.

Nothing I have ever tried has ever gotten rid of the moth ball smell that comes in everything mil sends or gives us. Even Christmas cookies smell like moth balls. If we had been smart years ago we should have boughten stock in moth balls. With all mil has bought we would be rich by now.

I will try the vinegar wash, because I know just washing doesn't work, then will try hanging on the line, if that doesn't work, then off to the goodwill and someone else can figure out what to do with it!

don't send it to goodwill, offer it here, I am sure someone here would be willing to cover the cost of shipping.

good luck with getting the smell out
(I must be an oddball, I don't mind the smell of mothballs)

It may surprise some of you with less sensitive noses, but just laying freshly pressed fabric out on a bed can lead to adsorbed odors, from cologne to old smoke to mattress stains!
(I always have to wash out the smell from dryer sheets when someone gives me fabric that has been exposed to them.)
