I might keep it for a while but I just cant get into the e-machines that much. Now there is a few that are on my "wishlist" and the 222K is on that list, along with a 500A, 301, 401 and a Hot Pink Morse. But the Morse is an external motor so it can be converted into treadle.

I really like the early sewing machines from around 1870-1930's
to me they are a good representation of the industrial revolution. And if it weren't for the early machines (1840's-1900's) we would not have the patent laws we have today. They were known as the "Machine Wars" and examples from that era are taught even to this day in law school.

But if I find a real nice super mint non Singer treadle somewhere and they want to trade well I cant be held responsible........

    I have a long bed tan 301, a short bed black 301, a 401 (that I need to work on a little more), the back-clamping 66 treadle, a Pfaff 30/31 treadle, a 306 (beige), a 319 (green), 185, 99, 28k, a 66 godzilla...
hmmmmm.... I think I like both - electric and people powered

Funny you mention a Back-clamp 66, I am using mine right now to make and quilt my sons quilt on.

I just acquired another 185J the same day I got my FW and it will be treadle operated before its over with. I have to do a repaint on it when it gets here and its going to be a cream with a pearl gold midcoat with the gold Singer decals on the arm like the factory offered. And it will have a gold faceplate with the gold pearl mid coat also.

I would love to have a Pfaff treadle, a friend of mine has one and she loves it!! But vintage sewing machines are a rare find here and most of them are Singers when you find them. Thats why I have my network around the country picking them up for me and hanging on to them till I can come and get them.

I just bought a featherweight last month....paid $199 for it on eBay and it's worth every penny.....I love it.....the stitch is beautiful, it's lightweight to take to my quilt guild sew a thons and now I have 2 sewing stations in my quilt studio. I get to pick if I want to piece or machine quilt.....choices are a wonderful thing.

It all depends what you are wanting to do. My favorite is a Japanese 15 that I use that has the drop feed dogs option. I can FMQ on it with no problem at all. But I use 4 or 5 different machines in my studio and depending on the mood I am in is which one I feel like using in my treadle at the time.

But for the most bang for the buck I would find a Model 15 and use it in a treadle if I was to just have one machine.

Lucky you! The last one I saw for that price would have made a good anchor for a canoe I paid $350 for mine about 6 years ago. She is worth every penny!
