Default I Love "The Cutting Gizmo"!! If you Chain Piece, This Is For You!!

I am usually not one to buy gadgets, gizmos, etc. but I did fall for this one and really love it. It is called "The Cutting Gizmo". I found it on ebay, it was also sold on Amazon at the time too, think I got it for about $12 including shipping. It just makes cutting chain-pieced fabrics a snap--it has an indentation on the top with a sharp razor blade in the middle and you just slide your chained pieces down on the top of it and it cuts the thread and you can separate long chains of 50 or more sections in nothing flat!

Nice to hear it works well for you. I've seen these advertised but figured I didn't need anymore gadgets.

I'm glad it works for you, but since I'm not much on gadgets, here's where I get my "snips", http://www.mygoodscissors.com/ThreadNippers.htm. I also use them as seam rippers and a few other things, since I discovered these, I haven't used an actual seam ripper in over 10 years.

I think the cutting gizmo would be handy if your machine doesn't have one built in. Mine has the razor blade thing on the end of the machine and I use it all the time.

I love this little power tool ! I have one in my grab and go supplies and one in my sewing room. Funny, when guild members ask did you bring your chain piece cutter? I'd love to borrow it to get these pieces cut. And they are the same ones that pooh pooh every new quilting tool as a waste of money. It's safer then having the seam ripper sitting upright. Ouch!

Here's a make your own......empty spool of thread....ripper...insert handle of same into center core of spool....set on table...use the cap of ripper to cover the gizmo when not in use.......works for me....

I asked for, and received, a Gizmo for Christmas. I lovelovelove it--it's like a third hand. I do lots of chain piecing, so I use it very often.
