I went away for the weekend to a friends cottage to quilt. When I returned, my husband had seemingly done me a favor and as he calls it "freshen up" the quilts on the beds. He happened to wash a vibrant red and white quilt, proceeded to dry it in the dryer not realizing the red ran all over the white. So my question is. How do I get that nice pinky tone in the white to disappear without disturbing the red. You gotta love men who like to help :hunf:

I would take a breath and wash it again with another color catcher or 2 or 3. It may just still come out. If it doesn't than don't dry it, see what someone else comes up with.

Just wash it again (and maybe again!) with some Shout Color Catchers in the machine. I probably overdo it, but I use several with a regular size quilt and I use 4-6 for larger quilts that I have to take to the front-loaders at the laundromat.

I'd use some OxyClean in there, too.

Don't dry the quilt in between washings - just keep washing until the pink is gone. Hope it only takes one or two! Good luck! :)

Soak it in Oxyclean. Then add the Color Catchers when washing so it doesn't happen again.

Thanks for the suggestions. Shout Color Catchers are not available in Canada. I'll give the oxyclean soak a try

Someone on the board recently had a major bleed and successfully got it out!
I believe it was those Shout color catchers.
Wish I could remember who it was. Maybe somebody will.
Sorry to hear this but I don't think it's hopeless.

Hi....that would be me who had a major red/white bleed issue. Use the Shout color catchers!!! They work fabulously kind of like a miracle! I soaked mine with a couple of the c.c. cloths, then spun it out and put freshcc cloths in and washed it.VOILA`all the red came out perfectly! I am a huge believer in those dye catchers!!
