I've searched and searched for a nine pointed maple leaf. My sister has asked me to make her Canadian hockey Player friend a quilt . I'd like a 12 inch maple leaf block that looks just like the Canadian flag. But all I found were 6 point maple leafs.. I'd prefer not to appliqué as my appliqué abilities are poor at best..

Can anyone help?!?!? I've got two weeks to make the darn thing before it has to go to the LA. Yikes!!!!

if you applique you can sew the fusible on right sides together..slit the back of the fusible material turn it inside out...than iron it on...then FMQ it. Good luck!

Buggy Barn patterns in Celebrated Craziness has a wonderful maple leaf. I made the quilt shown and it turned out great. I would send a picture but a friend is quilting it right now.

They use one leaf in a Canadian Flag pattern I beleive as well.

Not sure if this will help you. It is paper piecing and not for beginners. There isn't a size given but the info says that they added fabric in a log cabin pattern to create the pillow.

I found a paper pieced beautiful block with a Canadian maple leaf on this blog - http://christinacreating.blogspot.co...f-pattern.html

I had a friend request a quilt with an American and a Canadian flag for a new family member from Canada. I appliqued mine, but it was large enough to freemotion veining in the middle of the leaves. It turned out really nice, they were very pleased. I understand why you don't want to applique on yours, since it's an allover pattern and each square having to be individually done. But if you were to do just one, applique is not so tedious. Here's a pic of mine...

(Update - that's just too hilarious, we must have been searching at the same time and came up with the same site, lol)

Hi again. Went back to christinacreating.blogspot and clicked on picture and saved to file. I printed the pattern off and it measures 8"x7.5". Hope this helps.

As a Canadian ... I must say, what a lovely quilt you have made with the two flags together!
