    Yep, cut the carpet around.....and when you paint, just paint around them too :)

    I just read your thread & I have to tell you that your quilt is gorgeous. I always wanted to try the trapunto but haven't yet.I really like the looks of it. Keep us posted & send pics. Looking forward to seeing it finished

    Here is what I have so far.
    The first layer of gray is about the same color as the fabric,
    The second color of gray around the dragon is lighter.
    I will use a darker gray to give the frame more depth, in the knot holes and add to the shading perspective.

    What a beautiful piece of artwork!!! I love your "no fear" approach to this quilt :D:D:D You have done an awesome job on it, the quilting is perfect!!! How will you shade the woodgrains?

    Here is the last layer of the dragon's frame. Insted of a darker gray, I went all out. Wild and crazy guy I am.
    I used a rainbow varigated thread, I just hade to put in some color into it... Just like me.

    I kind of tattooed the quilt

    One more step forward with the dragon.
    I had a hard time moving the whole thing around
    AND thru the opening of the machine.
    That's quite alot of material to shove into that small opening, and still hold it down to sew.

    quilted out thru the black, white, and red 1 inch lines
