I would make a large square out of the dragon fabric with the dragon and clouds around it then with the red fabric make a boarder about 2-4 in thick and then do a boarder in black the same size or maybe 1 in bigger then do another in white or gray then the last fabric. then depending on how big you want to make it you can do some squares of the dragon in the four corners and do another frame connecting the squares. but that is just me. It is like making a picture frame out of the solids and you are framing the dragon fabric. Whatever you make is going to look fab. I love the fabric and my GMIL would absolutely love the fabric.

Just wanted to say you inspired me to try trapunto on my mom's MD present. Have all the trapunto done, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, now all i have to do is quilt it. Well, I'm off to quilt it.

When I walked by this quilt at our guild show this weekend, I said, "Hello! I know you!" - this quilter has used the same material in her quilt here.

Enjoy :)

onw type pattern I have used with that type of fabric is use1/2 yard or more in the very center to show off the dragon fabric.
Then take you red and black and make a row of four patches top and bottom of the dragon. then a stip again of the dragon. then more 4 patches. It mske a really cool looking guit and it shows off the focus fabric. if you want more infortmation you can pm me.

Here is an update on the dragon quilt.
I started to sew the larger panels,
I am trying to get a (rock into a still pond)
ripple affect with the symbol squares
have one side done, here they are.

You are doing an amazing job. I love ALL the stitching. I don't have patience for that, so it's great to watch what you turn out....

Thank you BK. I love all of the support. and to all that is guiding me along the way. I wondered why anybody would make the small size quilts... NOW I see. This thing has grown into a monster. Well it is a dragon, right? For my first endever I really bit off a big piece. But I am taking it step by step...

Ray..

I could not stop at just the two printed panels

I still wanted the ripple effect to continue out to the white frame

I am thinking the white frame should look like the gray frame( wood grain) in white thread.
