The only thing I see is that maybe the seams should have sewn all the way to the edge of the backing fabric when you were joining the blocks together. When you rolled it onto the blocks as the binding between blocks, maybe it should have been rolled and sewn all the way to the edges again. (Was that as clear as mud?)

This link is a post done in 2009. Has some good information on Fun and Done.
http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-39877-1.htm. Another post on Fun and Done.
Fun and Done sounds like the perfect answer to my small throat machine. I will be cutting my own templates and winging it until I learn the pattern. It will be on my list after the Cathedral Window.
While you are enjoying the chocolates, put Fun and Done in our search field. There are tons of posts on Fun and Done. I can't wait to read them all. I love the quiltingboard!

When you are sewing the initial blocks together, sew the entire length of the block.
When you start sewing the rows together, there will be some bulk from when you put the blocks together, but because you sew the entire length, it will be more manageable.
This link will show you what it looks like after you have sewn blocks together and ready to start the rows.
