I found a Proctor Silex Model 17320 at a thrift store. It makes lots of steam, holds a good bit of water, gets hot, and was only $3! Tried one out at a timeshare and loved it so much I considered slipping in my suitcase.

I purchased a T-Fal iron two years ago for my sewing room and I love it. I recently purchased another one for every day use. Great steam. It does shut off after 10 minutes but heats up really fast again. Kmart and JC Penneys both carry it. They run between $40-$50.

i have this T Fal for 3 years now and i drop it on the floor at least once a week and it still works like a charm.

i am so thrilled with my purchase - the steam is great and it gets super hot plus its easy to clean when i get fusible on it.

I, also, have the Black and Decker Digital Advantage. Have had it several years. Love the continuous steam, it has never 'spit' and the price was reasonable. Would get another one.

I love my Rowenta. The only time it tries to leak is if I put it on max steam. I have just bought the travel version to take to retreats.

That's another thing that I like about the Oliso iron. It is automatic shut off. Girls this is a really good iron. Try it.

I was a die hard steam iron fan until I came across a dry iron. I have been having nothing but trouble with all my steam irons leaking like a sieve. So I thought I would try it..I LOVE IT! No water no holes on the bottom and NO shut off! Its a great iron. I've used it for a week and I am impressed! And when I need that extra that steam would give me I just use starch..I use the trigger spray starch. works like a dream.

I love my Black and Decker digital advantage iron. Only bugs me when it shuts off when I'm not ready for it to. But I like when I forget if I left it on and know it'll shut itself off. I only use it dry.

I have a Rowenta travel iron that I use in my sewing space. I don't use water in it either.

After spending a lot of money on a Rowenta that was great for about a year, then started spitting and leaking, I started looking for a good iron. This one got the best reviews and I LOVE it. It was about 35 dollars I think. I've had it 3 years now with no problems at all. Lots of steam, it does have auto shut off but I'm ok with that since everything else about it is so good.
