Have you tried using Preview Paper? It is a vinyl product that you draw on with a permanent sharpie then later wipe away those marks with rubbing alcohol. It is a HandiQuilter product available online or at LQS's. You can literally draw different designs and see how you like them. It is a good tool for LAer's.
