Default I need your input on this idea for a quilt

I moved to a small one bedroom apartment. I have no place to put up or store a Christmas Tree. I was just setting here thinking about this and this thought came to my mind. What if I made a Christmas Tree quilt to hang on the wall in a corner with lights and decorations already on it. Then I could put it up and take it down like I would a real Christmas Tree.

What do you think of this idea?

That's what I did last year. I had the tall, skinny tree quilt hanging and I hung stockings beside it.
It was the first Christmas tree I've had since 2011.

I love the idea. Here's one I did a couple of years ago. It was easy and fun and pretty much "live-sized"

Sounds like a plan. A couple of years ago there were panels of trees that you could put battery operated lights in. You could also look for the tree pattern that you put buttons on to hang small ornaments.

I like your idea and think it would be a lovely thing in a small space.

You might take do a search on "quilt advent tree" or similar term. Many ideas for trees or other things to add decorations, whether changing daily or permanently in place. I like Tartan's idea of buttons, whether fancy in their own right or plain and nondescript to hold the ornaments.

I did a Christmas tree Mystery quilt years ago I hang it every year and have for the last 20+ years. It greets people when they come in the front door. Some of the decorations are filled with different spices and it has cinnamon as some of the branches. Most of the decorations are appliqued or mini blocks that are quilted.. Makes me want to look up that pattern..

I think that’s a fabulous idea! I like the idea for buttonholes to hang ornaments.

I have made three, one from a panel with the battery powered lights, one paper pieced, and one with glass embellishments shaped like old fashioned lights, quilted ornaments, and presents under the tree. Our place in FL has no space for a tree. Go for it! Think of all the storage space you will free up.

Did just this for my sons when they were single, Stonehenge had a tree panel and you added battery operated lights to it. Pattern had a pocket in back for the battery pack. Both are married but their wives still put up in staircase or hallway. Long ago when macrame was the big thing I made my mom a hanging tree that she put up for years with all her favorite ornaments.
