I need your most simple purse pattern....one that a 13 year old who has never sewed can make....with my help. The bow tucks are sweet...but too hard....I don't want zippers or ruffles or bows or adjustable handles....just real simple. She needs to complete a easy project....so she'll want to continue sewing.

Started my DD on just a simple square bag with handles. She also liked making pillow cases.

They have all kinds of purse patterns. Maybe you will find one that interests you.

This would be a super easy bag for a kid to make. It's more of a tote bag though.

I think a pillow case would be fun for her. Let her pick the fabric for her room. Something quick and she can make for her friends for the holidays.

I had a dress that was impossible to accessorize, so I found an almost matching fabric, and made basically an envelope out of it. PM me if you want a pic, I'm not super proud of it, but for a 13 year old, it would be easy. Then I just used one of those magnet clasps.

This is really easy and cute too! It took me about 2 hours.

Here is a picture of one my 9 year-old DGD made. It could be made without the ruffle. If you are interested I will PM you the directions. It is very easy.

I've got a list of tutorials I found online - I'm sure there are some in there that you would like to have her make.
I would let her pick it out to be honest with you. Kids are picky. Just sit her down, have her go through the tutorials and if she sees something she likes that is above her, explain why and say, let's bookmark this for your next project... and then move one to the next one.

There are just so many possibilities out there and without knowing what SHE wants it to look like, it's hard to know what to suggest.

Here's a link to my purses page - also suggest to her a tote bag as well. That might be even easier.

There is a tote bag tutorial listed on there for a 6 pocket tote - it is really easy and impressive when you are done. I bet she would like that - and you can point out that they would make great teacher gifts too - this way you kill a few birds with that pattern stone - have her make hers first, then she can make another for her teacher and she'll get more practice!
