Walmart fabric dept manager will order whole bolts of anything listed in the warehouse book. She orders bolts of Warm and Natural for many quilters in the area. The last bolt I ordered was $4.99 a yard. I don't know how much it is now but cheaper than anyplace else. Any Walmart that sells fabric can order by the bolt. You many have to pay upfront. The dept manager may say they can't but they can. That's a sign either they are ignorant of what they can do or just don't want to mess with it.

How about ordering on line and have it sent to local store, no postage this way?

OK maybe there is a cotton shortage, but bamboo is something that grows with no boundaries and the price of bamboo batting is even higher. I bought a nice cotton blanket at the thrift store last week for $2. and I am going to try and use it as my batting.

Not only was it a poor year for cotton growers, the demand for cotton is steadly growing world wide. That I believe is why the price continues to climb. Just like oil & gold the demand world wide causes the prices to rise, got to blame the speculators too!

I was thinking the same thing. Whatever the market will bear is what is charged. I have always tried to combine my trips, but then I hate shopping, lol,. I don't buy anything anymore unless I absolutely need it.
And please when we talk about prices remember that 23cents was when the minimum wage was what? around $2 or so. Yes I know income has not kept up with prices and people are struggling. If it weren't for me living with my brother I would be living on the street because I could not afford to pay rent anywhere, so believe me I understand living on a tight budget.
That being said I really hate the greed that is showing up too. It hurts everyone except the guys at the very top.

I hope I am wrong but I don't think so as I think prices will only get worse as long as the EPA is in control our electricity more than doubled after the clean air act went into effect it is not the store owner or the farmer as the farmers expense is much higher with the high fuel costs the so are store owner also faces much higher prices with the utilities wages and also health care that they have to pay has taken a big increase in price and will be going up again next year and we the consumer pays for all of this

Greed is everywhere from the grocery, the gas station, the boardroom, to Washington DC. Guess we'll have to shop from our stash until things get better.

I remember the first time I had "sticker shock". Ground beef had actually gone up to $.43 a pound. Then, gas went up over $.25 a gallon. Bummer.
