Go ahead and order the fabric. The postage is what will keep more post offices open and postal workers working. Besides if you really love it and it is out of print you should feel fortunate that you did indeed find this fabric. 5 yards all in one piece is a find you may not find again.

I don't understand that. The shop I work for has a huge on-line business, and we ship 8 yds priority mail for 4.95

I will not order online when the shipping seems out of wack. I refuse to order on just general principal.

I agree the shipping charges at some places are out of control. I wanted to order a bag pattern recommended by someone on the QB and the $7.50 pattern had a $5.95 shipping charge. I cancelled my order and then searched the web until I found it with a 1.95 shipping charge.

I would have gotten it and given up something else (not necessarily quilting related) at a later time and called it balanced out. (Would have looked until exhausted all avenues before paying that amount of shipping though. That is excessive!) Too many "wish I would have's".

Good for you! I've only purchased one piece of fabric online. Had to remake my son's blankie with the same material. Of course JoAnn's no longer had it. But found it on e-bay.

I'm too tempted to purchase material at the stores. I like to touch and feel it before I decide to buy it. By only buying in person, that cuts down on how much money I could be spending. I'm ok with that.

We all need to know when to hold 'em and when to walk away......even if it is in tears :-(

I have placed many orders until I got to the shipping charges--then, cancelled the order. It is so frustrating.
