I said I wasn't going to have any UFOs

I said I wasn't going to have any UFOs like all of you other quilters. I was going to start a project and then finish it before I started anything else.
But, you know, I need to hand stitch the binding on that quilt. And, I am just playing with that scrap pattern. Oh, and all of that coffee fabric that is sitting on the table and is only partly cut, well, I needed to stop for a while. Well, yes, there is also a pattern that has been cut out ready to sew. ..................
How did this happen???

Well, if you're working on three or four projects at the same time, they're not actually UFOs but WIPs. Who says you can't have more than one work in progress? They don't become UFOs unless they lie around without progress for let's say more than three months, otherwise they're still WIPs. So you're still adhering to your own rule of having no UFOs. :D

it does not sound as if you have any ufo's yet---you have a few wips (works in progress) there is a difference--
ufo's are often stuffed away in a closet---never to be finished---wip's get finished up :)
so- you have not let yourself down at all- you are just being a good quilter :)

Great news!!! Now I am SURE I will NEVER have any UFOs like all of these other quilters.
Actually, since I have only been doing this for a little over a month, it all has to be WIPs. Check back in a few months when I cross that WIP window into the UFO zone.
The problem is --- I want to do so many things.

I managed to keep from having UFO's for almost 4 years. Then I started a paper pieced quilt top. Then a class in another technique interrupted that project. (I wish there were a rule that classes had to give you enough time IN CLASS to finish a project.) Then I hit the dreaded doldrums and couldn't seem to work on anything. I solved that by starting... you guessed it... another quilt top, from scraps. Then we took vacation. So now I'm back to working on the scrappy top, determined to finish it up, and there are those 2 UFO's waiting for me. I would have called them WIP's as Thusnelda suggests, but I'm afraid I've already passed her 3-month limitation.
