    Is there any kind of fuseable material that you can use for the applique that doesn't stiffen the fabric? I'd like to make bed quilts, and don't want the applique designs to be stiff.

    I'd use a lighter-weight fusible. Fusible comes in many "weights" and there are very light ones for more sheer fabrics, and heavier ones for heavier-weight fabrics. Ask at your local fabric store and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

    I've tried this method using wash-away Sulky. When the Sulky washes out, you only have the fabric left.

    I've done it this way using dryer sheets. I struggle with it if the pieces are too small, otherwise it works just great for me...you should try it!
