One thing I was taught to do: take those pipe cleaner things kids use for crafting and swipe it around inside your machine - it picks up things eyes can't see.

    Good idea, Connie! :)

Okay, so I put a completely different thread on their, threaded the top, filled a new bobbin (the old one did have two little nics on it) and it's working MUCH better. I got the bobbing thread to come up and can even sew with it without it getting stuck and having all those nasty, tangled threads on the underside.

*hugs to all* I love you guys! Thanks so much!

If you are not adverse to yahoo groups there is a Futura yahoo group that could help when you have problems.

Oh really? I'm not adverse to them, I'm in at least one at the moment. I'll have to look that group up, thanks. :)

I have Vikings and sometimes the thread comes off the thread take up mechanism (that little hook thingie that goes up and down just above your needle). And when that happens the thread gets all tangled up on the back of the fabric and in the bobbin case. Just rethread the machine and it will be fine.

Seems like things are going much better now.

The only other thing I might add would be to check your needle and make sure that it did not get bent.

Whenever I have problems with any of my machines (I have many....don't know if that's good or bad), I turn the machine off and then back on and then rethread everything.

I did learn something new.....I never thought about the plastic bobbin having a nick.

Good luck and never give up. :!:

My Singer repairman told me that when your bobbin threads screw up it is because of the top threading. I sew on a Featherwight.

Congratulations to all! I learned what a bridge was, too. I use a leader. LOL!

Alway's check your needle after something like this in case it got nicked or misaligned. Sometimes the screw holding it in gets loose. Glad it is working.

This has happened to me too... and I found extra pieces of thread I miased.. and the machine won't work until you get every piece of thread out... also have a look at the way you have thread the machine... sometimes you might have missed something... so rethread the machine as well... also before you start sewing hold on to the threads at the back of the work, as they can jumble up underneath for some reason... this is what I do anyway, hope it helps you in the future.
