I think that bindings must be stronger if they are sewn by machine. I can't see how there is much dispute there.

I do almost everything by machine. I used to quilt by hand but I used quilting frames that took up the whole living room. Besides I always felt like I would never see the end of the quilt. Once I learned how to machine quilt, I haven't done another by hand. Besides my fingers would get so sore and raw from feeling for the needles I had to stop off & on for them to heal up. No thanks, love my longarm machine. No more bleeding fingers or sore knees from pinning quilts together on the floor.

Meet a sister weirdo.............The first quilt I hand sewed the binding on took me 2 1/2 hours and it was a baby quilt. I swore I would never hand quilt binding again. Yes, I've had comments of my binding, but most were positive due to how it was perfectly done. Stitched on bottom and turned over to the top and top stitched is the way I do it, and always will.
