I was very disturbed by Leah Day's Slash Star

I agree. I like this pattern! And it's so easy! I love patterns where you can stack your fabrics, cut, then take one piece off the top and put it on the bottom. I've done a bunny pattern and also a tree pattern. They were fun and easy!

I can make those very easily, lol, but it drives me crazy to have corners and points don't match.

I'm doing this quilt along, though I am woefully behind right now, but I'll catch up over the next few weeks. I lost momentum over summer when I was much more busy doing outdoors things.
The whole point of the quilt being all different blocks and quilting and whatnot is for people to learn a little bit about all sorts of piecing techniques, and different quilting patterns.. she has packed a whole lot of learning into one quilt along.
SweatyPie, you're funny

The "Pointless Wonder" star quilt from Buggy Barn is easily assembled and is ideal in bright/bold colors for a child. It's not for everybody, but I had fun making an oversize queen using 93 different fabrics. :-) In fact, I put that quilt on our bed last weekend and DH sighed and said he really liked this quilt. Pleasant dreams....

Yeah, I have to say "not my style or my liking." I have spent so much time on improving my quilting this would seem a step backwards. It's probably great for someone who wants mindless sewing, but I have my string blocks for that type of sewing for me. Some of those intersections are so close it just looks like sloppy sewing to me instead of being so obvious that it is the pattern and not the sewer.
