It was tiresome trying to make a quilt big enough to cover the mattress and struggling to work with the bed skirt while making the bed. It seemed as if the manufacturers were making the mattresses deeper and deeper. I saw a picture somewhere where the spread idea similar to the one used by citruscountyquilter was demonstrated. Eureka! Since then I have been using this neat idea.

Spreads are not always easy to find in the stores, but it is easier to find them online.

I have done this before, it worked out great

Will it fit just the top of the bed (60x80 I believe for a queen size)? If so why not look for a contrasting dust ruffle, or better yet sew your own starting with a sheet. I hope that makes sense.

Thank you all for your great ideas ( except for the donate and start over ). I've decided to take the binding off and add another row.
