I won a raffle quilt. Would everyone hate me if I sold it?

You got in the raffle, they pulled your name, the quilt is yours. I am sure in this economy, you could probably use 600.00 dollars right now. It was not made with you personally in mind, to me that makes a difference. If someone made it specifically for you, and only you, it would be horrible if you sold it. But this is not the case. Do with the quilt as you want, and don't let any guilt get in your way........you need not have none.

It is now yours to with whatever you like. If you can use the money keep it. I don't see why some members here feel your obligated to give the guild who made it some of the money when you sell the quilt. They made their money from the raffle. Take a picture of it on your bed and say no more. Oh and congratualtions on your win.

Since you won it - do with it as you please. There is no obligation to keep it or re-donate it. It is yours and that is all there is to it. If they only want people to buy tickets that love and intend to keep the quilt need to let the folks buying the tickets know that as they purchase the raffle tickets. I can guarantee you a lot fewer people will buy the tickets.

This thread sounds a little like the flip side of the one a few days ago about how we feel when we don't get the response expected when giving a quilt. All the reasons you don't want to keep it are probably the same reasons a recipient sometimes does not act excited about receiving a quilt as a gift. However, I know it is different because this was not made just for you; it was a raffle, it could have gone to anyone and you won it fair and square. I think I would not advertise what you do with it. Just accept it graciously and then sell it or do whatever and don't mention it again. If you were not a quilter and didn't know how much time and expense and thought went into it, you probably would not hesitate to sell it.
