Default Ideas needed for how to quilt these blocks please?

Last autumn I had to have a reconstruction of my shoulder and consequently I can only do a little hand sewing at the moment. I have been working on what will be a king-size quilt, but I am doing it as 'quilt as you go'. I have adapted the pattern from 'Hexagogo' by Tacha Bruecher. Each block is made up of hexagons of various shades of two colours eg. yellow/green, green/blue, blue/purple and the colours then drift in a diagonal pattern. The sashing and backing is white cotton. As it is pretty much all hand sewn I want to hand quilt as well - and here is where I need the help. I have thought of making three or so hexagon shaped templates and simply hand quilt in those shapes? I could also sew 1/4 inch inside every other hexagon? I need your comments and ideas please. Many thanks.

Hexagon quilts like Grandmother's Flower Garden, were traditionally hand quilted 1/4 inch inside each hexagon.

If you want to add a bit of fun, the hexagons lend themselves to a horizontal or vertical zig-zag pattern.

I'm always amazed at how many things I miss the first time they're posted. Thanks for sharing this link, a few of those would look lovely on the OP work.... however... when/if I finish my hexagon quilt top I plan to do the traditional ¼" inside each block.

I agree with Tartan. That is the way they were handquilted. Watch my Great Aunt Maude hand quilt a GFG for her granddaughter (guess my 2nd cousin ??).

If you are handquilting you want to take into consideration those seams. Try to pick a design where you minimize having to sew across the seams. I think that is why often the traditional ones were sewn as suggested 1/4" from the seam. Depending on the size of your hexis and your batting, you probably do not have to do everyone to insure that the batting does not migrate.
