Default Ideas for sponsor quilt help?

    hello friends,
My family helps produce a music festival every summer in WI. I have told the board of directors that I am not coming next year because I am going to a sewing expo near my house. They have come back to me, and asked me to make or lead the production of a quilt that can be used behind performers on the stage.

they have not specified colors, size, pattern, theme... their only direction to me is that want it to be easy to hang, foldable, and lightweight (so we have that covered, already right ...

they want to sell blocks to people to support the fest, so i am thinking signature quilt?
any other ideas? i am thinking nature colors because we are outdoors but it also needs to pop from stage, and our tent is 200 feet long.

    thanks
    theresa

For a signature quilt, rail fence blocks work, and it would work with colors in nature. Just make the middle strip a white, cream, or light tan.

I can understand doing a raffle quilt - if they want 'stage curtains' - that's something else - IMO

See this link for lots of siggie quilt ideas. Keep in mind how they look as small pictures because your quilt will be seen the same way from the back of the tent.

they dont want curtains, they want a quilt that can be hung behind the artists in front of the backdrop. we have two stages and the smaller stage has a quilt hanging behind it that was won through another groups raffle. i suspect that this idea came up at least partially to keep me involved. and they can raise money selling blocks

i did search google and also pinterest, i am just a little overwhelmed at the idea of sewing something peopel pay for. i thought about doing a star where the points dont touch the edges to avoid stubbed edges, then i just need to match points.

has anyone ever done this type of thing as a fundraiser, do you sell the blocks all for the same price or do you have larger blocks for more money?

Would this quilt then belong to the organization?
Would you be reimbursed for - at least - your materials?
How would someone know that a certain block was his/hers?
How would you collect the money?
Would someone sign a block after it was finished?

yes the quilt will belong to the collective, and they will pay for materials.
The rest of your questions are the answers I need to figure out.

If the idea is to sell blocks to sponsors then you might want to consider very large blocks with central areas available for the sponsors to place their logos or names. The center blocks could be paper or material ... pinned from the back, velcro'd, fused, or whatever you decide.

I would think the idea would be for the audience to be able to see the sponsors names would be the most important.

You could alternate or arrange your blocks with sponsor blocks if you want.

Just make it fun for you.
