I do like my Bernina 440QE with the BSR. I still need to learn to use it well, but that's why I bought this machine. My neighbor loves her Pfaff for its particular features.

There are many good machines, but maybe go to a dealer with several brands where you can sit down and try them out to see which one fits you. I have 2 janomes a mc 6600P, and heart truth and love them

I would want a long arm, so I'd have to go with a bailey. Probably the only true long arm in that price range.

I have owned every machine brand. I've had Bernina, Pfaff, Janome, Viking, Babylock (my vote for embroidery). The best sewing machine out there - hands down - the Juki exceed F-600. Plus you've got money to put in the bank. Love, love, love my Juki - no other machine has the power of a Juki - none. I have the straight stitch tl98, and the Exceed. There isn't anything you can't go on this machine.

I did the same thing -- saved and saved . Then went and bought a Viking Ruby - I love it. Great for piecing, quiliting free motion (has 9 inch between the needle and machine so more room for the quilt) and embroidery too. I have been having a great time doing the embroidery for baby quilts and my grand-daughter's clothes.

Janome ??? I have one and after 10 years of not so much work it has a problem . I understand that the parts inside are
made of plastic or something similar. After I take it to the shop where I bought it I'll tell you more. I have always liked it
until it started mis behaving. I don't seem to be able to adjust it, which I can do with my other machines. An real old Sears
(commander) and a Dressmaker. yes some Janome's are
manufactured in China.
I think again i'd buy a Bernina.
