Ditto to the Bernina...can't go wrong...best advice is have someone close to you for repairs and help if you have questions...Worst thing you could do is have a machine and not have help....you buy a Bernina from an authorized dealer and they will help you forever....at least mine does...They also give lessons for free and you can repeat them if you ever need to...at no charge...They don't sell out of their area...

I just played with the Janome 7700 and it is a DREAM!!! The price at the local dealer is $2900. Although, my mom's dealer said $2600. The throat is 11 inches!!! Check it out, me and my mom are each going to get one.

All machines have their plus side and minus side (that's why I have 4). My advice would be to decide which is best to suit your style of quilting and test drive it before taking it home. If you are going to do a lot of free motion quilting on it, I suggest you go for one with a large throat - it makes a lot of difference.Next would be how easy is it to use and maintain. I personally use my Brother straight stitcher with a 9" throat, which cost me $2,000.00, more often than my $10,000.00 Pfaff.

If your not into the embroidery, be careful. You need a program, computer, lots of thread, and lots of support things to get into it. Look for a good dealer with a repair place in the store. One that is near you, If you are quilting more than anything, look what supports that in the machine. Especially the larger area to support the size quilts you like to do. I have two brother machines and do lots of embroidery and starting into quilting now. It is my relaxer, or therapy. Good luck, from another Sue

Another Elna 7300 Pro Quilter. She is a beauty and a workhorse. I love my Janomes and she is very much like one since they are building some of the models now. Only complaint? she has more stitches then I have been able to use so far.
