    I think if an individual worries about this then it's best to say don't do it for their peace of mind.

    Go ahead resize it. You are not copying the instructions and reselling it. You purchased the right to use the pattern...no difference than if you decided to leave of a border, add you own applique, you name it......enjoy "YOUR" quilt.

    A friend of mine who is an international quilt pattern maker and teacher has been able to successfully defend her copyrights because she kept careful records of her progress to her design.

    Except for copying it and reselling, once it is yours, it is yours. You can wrap yourself in it and dance to the moon in your backyard!!

    I have resized patterns on many occasions but have first contacted the person who wrote the pattern, I have never been denied and have always been encouraged. They have all stated yes just don't sell whatever you are making with the resized pattern at craft shows etc.
