I always liked to sew but made clothes, curtains, covers for toasters, mixers etc. Then I didn't sew much. Well my cousin said, you should try quilting and she had a huge stash and I just thought how stupid to have all that material. Well I started quilting with her guidance and now am a full blooded quilter. I have a stash not as large as hers was but now I understand why. You just need to have that material incase a quilt pattern comes up for it!

I actually have sewn since I was about 6, but for alsmost 25 years I was so busy that I only touched my machine when I had to mend and hated even that. Happily I have a renewed passion for sewing and love quilting,at 72 I hope I still have a few more years to keep on quilting. Sometimes we just need a break I guess, however my sewing room now runneth over!!

I can identify with amandsgramma. I gave away all my crafting supplies also all my paints and brushes to make room for my quilting. My daughter now has all my crafting and painting supplies. She is very talented in both areas so they didn't go to waste. I took up the two end rooms of our 14X80 mobile home for my quilting and fabric stash. Still don't have enough room.lol

I teach a little an always ask if we have a new quilter in the group, I then explain this is an addict habit and there is no curer for it ( I have asked my Dr. who just laugh at me), I dont even look at scrapebooking as I know I would get into that and want everything to go with it . Cathy

I agree with Diana Lynne- I also hated sewing and still do, but quilting is different, and I refuse to go to rehab!
