I have the heated mattress pad with dual thermostats and it is the best investment we have made. It allows the heater to be kept at a lower temp. Also, I just made a flannel on both sides with warm a natural batting quilt, it is the warmest blanket I own, now.

I pile on an extra fleecy blanket when I go to bed. Hubby won't let me get a heated mattress pad. :(

oh boy.. I don't know why we can't be closer when it comes to the hot/cold thing. I'm hot, always have been, he's cold... freezing cold to hear him tell it.. So he has a pile of blankets on him. I sleep without a cover.. He doesn't see how I can stand it and I know I couldn't sleep under all those blankets.. I think it would be better to use separate blankets than to make one with different battings or amounts of batting. . I don't think you'd like it finished.

I have a heated mattress pad. It's warmer at the foot of the bed and gets cooler towards the middle and top of the bed. You can only heat one side of the bed if you choose to. I love mine.

That is an interesting idea. Hubby and I have always been opposites. When we were first married I was always cold and he was roasting. Now in later life we have swapped. I made two identical quilts with no borders on the inside edge where they meet in the middle of the bed. We can each adjust the blankets as we like while sleeping but when the bed is made the quilts meet in the middle it looks like one quilt because the patterns match up.

I have the same problem. We have DUAL control heating blanket. He turns just my side on when he goes to bed earlier Than I and it is toasty warm when I I jump in. We also have a small heating pad for the foot of the bed[from Sears] in case just our feet are cold.We are both diabetics. Good Luck!!

I have the same problem, but just use a lap robe over my side on top of the blankets to keep me warmer.

I find this subject hilarious! I sleep with no covers, and DH sleeps rolled up like a burrito (two quilts and top sheet). Works for us.
